Almanac

A quiet place to write it down.

Almanac is a journal designed to be kept for a lifetime: private by construction, quick to open, and stored in formats that will still be readable long after any app — including ours — has changed.

Capabilities

What Almanac does.

An end-to-end encrypted journal with daily prompts, and exports you can open in any decade.

  1. 01

    End-to-end encrypted

Entries are encrypted on your device before they sync. We can't read them, and neither can anyone else.

  2. 02

    Gentle prompts

One optional question a day, for the evenings when the page feels blank.

  3. 03

    On this day

Revisit what you wrote a month, a year, or a decade ago — quietly surfaced, never pushed.

  4. 04

    Plain text, forever

Export everything as Markdown with photos alongside. No proprietary format, no lock-in.

In practice

Promises, specific to Almanac.

Our principles only mean something when they're concrete. Here is what they look like for this app.

  • Zero-knowledge sync

Your encryption key never leaves your devices. Our servers only ever hold ciphertext.

  • Your words train nothing

Your writing is never used to train models — ours or anyone else’s.

  • Built to outlast us

If Almanac is ever retired, you'll get at least a year's notice and a complete, readable export.

Questions

Asked often.

Something else on your mind? Ask us directly.

When will Almanac be available?

Almanac is in development. Leave your email on this page and we'll let you know when early access opens.

What if I forget my password?

Because entries are end-to-end encrypted, we can't reset access for you. Almanac gives you a recovery key during setup — keep it somewhere safe.

Can I import from another journal?

Import from plain text and Markdown is planned for launch. Tell us which app you use today and we will prioritise accordingly.
